Sleep's Little Poens. c:

[Sleep]

Anxiety

There's she goes.
Her hopes, her dreams
Drifting, away.
Fading with her silent screams,
They crack and fray.
And she's lost inside
Her own fright
Of the fearless,
The kind.
Everything she hears is about her,
Though not at all.
Everything said around her is an insult,
But more a compliment than not.
Twisting phrases soothes her mind,
And hurts her heart, feeding
This mind game.
Compliments mean nothing.
Insults mean everything,
And she has no say against it.
For it.
About it.
She's scared, frustrated, feeling
Alone.
No drug can cure it,
No words can mend it.
It waits quietly,
Patiently, waiting for the next
"Hello".

The Reaper

A sound at the door;
A crack and a fuddle.
Let in he
Who comes to muddle.
Let in he whom lusts his eye
On your thought, your blind will;
Sink into into your heart's
Desire, burning
And take what he feels.
Offer him liquor,
A little care, but
In return receive his
Haunting stare.
Stricken with fear
Of what you cannot understand,
Show him the door, lend him
Your hand.
Nothingness.

Bitter

Blink them away;
Those tears deserve a
Much prettier face.
You are not beautiful.
You cry for absolutely
Nothing, and it
Won't make you any less a
Bitter taste to glimpse.
You'll still carry that same, crooked
Smile, that same disgusting expression,
That same filthy attitude.
Hold your head up.
Your double chin is showing.
Sit up straight, you look like a
Rat bent for dairy.
Cry softly.
You wouldn't want to disturb the ones,
Happy and careless as they are around you,
Would you?

Tremble

Shiver, shake;
A glass bottle breaks
Downstairs. A cry for help,
A sincere pain. Terror latches.
Open the door, look
Down.
A shifting, a dragging,
Of hands and feet.
Father, father, mother
Is bothered! Help
Her to the couch.
Click, click and pull,
Then a sound so dreadful.
Up the stairs
He trudges.

Second in Line

Follow the leader
As he rants about,
And leads you to the
World's end
To shove you out.

Decrescendo

My, my, what a mess I've made,
A lone criminal in the falsely accused theft of
Promises. Crinkle and cut those
Letters I spent my ink and tears on,
And silently coalesce into rumor.
Conscious is the treason of my only dearest love.
Though, no mistake I've made. It was simply
The wrong place at the wrong time,
But that doesn't stir the interest of
Those who harvest upon despair.
Forgive me, love, for I have sinned;
A sin I've no memory of committing.
A deceiver of myself I've become,
For I decrescendo, I fade into,
Lies that I now know as truth.

The Agnostic

Skepticism is a curse, and the Church
Is its own devil. I have dreams,
I walk with God,
But I always
Wake up.

The Sound of Music

Your heart beats in
Perfect synchronization
With the rhythm of music,
And you discover your favorite song.
Long live my oldest love, a harmonic passion
Burning
Forever strong.
And she still
Lives on.

Cope

Hold on tight to your
Strongest desires.
Follow your heart
For your eyes are beautiful liars.
Dream on a star
Where wonders aren't far.
Time waits for tomorrow, and
Not for your sorrow.
Blink away memories
That soon fade into smiles.
This'll only hurt for
A little while.

Out of Reach

There's so much I yearn to say to you,
But I won't let those words fall from my lips.
No matter how much I feel I do,
I can't love you yet.
I surround myself in broken promises, and
Walk bare on their shattered glass.
Picking up the pieces isn't as hard as
Repeating a bitter past.
I don't want to be your problem;
The one you crave to right.
Let me fix my own wrongs and
You'll get out alright.

Crossroads

We've given up our future
And laid our hearts to rest.
Though you've lost your will to fight,
Mine has found new strength.

You've broken my heart, my soul,
My ability to love another.
You hold half my love and half my
Hate, but you will never hold my hurt.

This hurt, this relentless ache,
My body endures may grant
I will never find solace.
Not in this love you've given me.

I yell, but it reaches your ear in
Whisper; a calm, quiet pleading.
Every word I breathe is not
Enough. It is never enough.

Through my frustration there is
Grief; a thirsty longing quenched
By an appetite for words.
You're at a loss of them.

Are you hurt, are you heartless?
Will you look me in the eye?
I'm at a crossroads and you're
On both ends, both of them.

Love me, hate me.
Feel something.
This silent company, oh,
I detest.

You cannot kill my hope,
Nor my love, my constant love.
I would rather you didn't try
Than be out of your touch.

Frail

She's bent and breaking.
Her heart is aching.
The longing she feels
Is unreal.

She's drowned and sinking,
But cannot stop thinking
About how he left her
So frail.

If this is love,
She pleads for hate.
Maybe that will ease
Her sorrow.

She begs him to hurt,
To shiver and to shake
In the success of her
Tomorrow.

Tomorrow will never come,
And he'll hold her red ribbons
Against the wind.

Bittersweet Bella

"Eat it,"
She cracked a smile.
I know I shouldn't, for
She had always been wrong.
Oh, how I wished she was right.
A month and a day it's been.
Why is that, you ask?
Bella has told it so.

Bella is my friend,
If you can claim this any sort of bond.
Bella wants to help,
If you can dub her any sort of savior.
She guides me to success,
Though, not without very many failures.
She hides behind me, deep inside me,
Where she remains a mystery;
A taboo to friends and family.

It is dinner time;
Everyone's favorite meal of the day.
I have no favorite meal.
Food is a want, an expense, a guilty pleasure.
It is a weakness and a fault.
I have no weaknesses.
I have no faults.

"Go on, eat it,"
That smile still smug under her crinkled nose.
She's my temptress,
My ugly and fowl embarrassment.
Oh, how she annoys me.
Oh, how she attracts me.
I love and loathe her.
I want her here and I want her gone.
Nonetheless, I want her.

Frustrated, my eyes rest upon the plate.
There is no food at all, but words;
Guilt, Anguish, Loathing.
I look to her, and her smile is gone.

"You're learning,"
She spoke so softly
Like a mother to a child.
"Control is a strength, and
One of many successes."

I feel a wash of relief,
And then I am falling fast.
My eyes are locked tight,
But I can still see her.
I can still see Bella.

Bella cups my face in her
long, spindly fingers.
She is panicked and afraid,
Where I am glad
And I am free.

I opened my eyes
To meet her frightened gaze.
"I finally,
finally,
got you."

Anger swelled in her heart.
I cackled and cried as her
Darkest thoughts mingled with mine.
She consumed me.

Disorderly

What would you like for breakfast?
Bones, she said.
I would like bones.

What would you like for lunch?
Bones, she said.
I would like bones.

What would you like for dinner?
Peace, I said.
I would like this nightmare to end.

FFF NNN

How long could the unknown
Live inside your walls;
A man, 100 lbs lighter than you,
Living on mouse bait and moth balls?

Closet to closet, attic to basement
And every nook in between.
Where you are less, he is most.
He is clever and remains unseen.

He has a name and you will never know it,
For it is as soundless as his feet.
A gnaw on the lip and a mash of the tongue,
and by chance he and you may meet.

Do not seek him, do not speak of him.
If you find him, do not look his way,

For there is a price you will surely pay.

I tried to write a novel (Insidia) in 2011-2012, but it never went very far. I like short things-- too young to commit to anything I guess. :c I just recently found this section and I don't know what I've been doing with my life but I made this thread for free-verse poems. \o/

Lol, well, I'll say this--you're never too young to try.  My interest in writing truly blossomed in high school...10 years ago, ew that was a long time ago.
