it's not broken, it's never been broken.
to change your cultivation from demon to sage you have to do the orange cultivation quests. all of them. If you just did the 89 culti then bought the fairy you still have to do the cultivation or else the change won't work.

After you finish the quests you need to get 200 Mirages and the Celestial Schism Mold (5 gold) There's an npc at 1k by the heaven portal or Archo by the elder called the Conversion Executor.
Take the mold and make the schism, take the quest to swtich and all done :3 when you switch culti's you'll get the third fairy sage so you don't need to do the culti.
