Most people go through a guild hosting service like one of these:

http://www.enjin.com/

They're relatively easy to set up and allow for a lot of customization. If you need help beyond the basics of getting the site up and running, the host you choose should also have a FAQ list and some walkthroughs.

Bit late but I would personally recommend shivtr. In PWI we switched our faction from guildlaunch to shivtr for the many options it has along with the ease of use.
