Elemental shards for damage.

Can someone explain this to me? For example, using fire damage shards on an EA using fists. From what I’ve read, it affects melee damage only or basic aps on bow. I want to find out if its better for PVE / PVP if you have on an added fire damage buff or pot with use of the fire shards

You'd definitely get better damage out of physical attack shards, or better yet, dex shards, on a bow. Blazing Arrow/element damage pots add damage based on your physical attack, and adding element damage shards don't help with that.

Not sure elemental damage pots are the best option for pve -- example towers in seat??  Haven't tried tho.  My concern is that apo pot have too long a cool down to be really useful.  When my sin is soling seat (not often but have done it a few times), I have a set of daggers with water shards for the phys immune tower - kills it really slowly but it works.

What am I missing?  (aside from not soloing seat towers with a sin and no help)
