Square Formation not working?

This is in general discussions only because im not sure if its just me...
My Skyscremers have square formation (wooooo) but it never has activated yet... does it?

If you sharded the swords with a sacred stone (pierce, rampage, holy, shield of chi, etc) the weapon will have that instead of the bonus it comes with. Only Sacrificial Strike and God of Frenzy work with them.
