There is a second occurrence i got this message with. The basic reason it popped up for me is because i had all files on desktop and it couldn't find element client. as long as it allows you to update the game just open elementclient.exe if that does not work then u have urself a bad download try downloading the client from the website again.

try to run updater.exe as admin

Seriously i said ur updater has to be updated to connect. run Updater.exe as ADMIN only do not run Patcher.exe then try again.
