For one, a lot of people farmed for at least one (I know people who farmed for each of their alts and then some for selling).  Way to invalidate their work when all they needed to do was throw a few dollars at it...

How about no, there was already a time when people could donate for stats/massive amounts of EC. Let's not do that again.
