It happens so me sometimes, most of the time the chars have to be a bit away though. 
(This only happens on my laptop, not on my desktop where I have UI and such)

I didn't experience this, but I noticed that recent Windows Defender update slowed down my laptop a lot. I switched to Avira yesterday and the game is smooth again.
