I think the titles change isn't significant enough to chase it. 
More like; if you have the ec/money to get it, sure, why not?
But if not, why farm and spend your last 5k ec on it?

I got it when I had enough EC to just waste on random shit, and I barely, if at all, noticed a difference, before or after.
So do your gear first, I'd say.
