ik sometimes my images have white backgrounds even tho they are png because the pictures are way too big.  they fix when I resize.  maybe it's the same thing but with black instead of white? I'm not sure

i tried to resize from 2k x 1,6k pixels to lower,like 1,9x1000 .....seems it doesnt help. tho i saw ppl saying this can be fixed in PS but sadly i dont use it

I had these problems for so long, what I discovered was, imgur puts white background instead of transparent if the image goes over 1000px in height so I started resizing all my pngs under that and it seemed to work for me
Not sure how it works on other sites though
