Client stay on updating files forever and won't start

I have downloaded the game and when i try to run it, it stay on updating files and says please wait and then it just stays like that forever >.>
After a while a thing just pops up and says error...i can't get it to start. How long should it usually takes to update?
Oh i have using a mac and trying to run the game using PlayOnMac with internet explorer 8. I open the client from Run a .exe file in a virtual drive from elementclient.exe

Hi there,

You can try this, if you haven't yet:

Patcher won't update or Patcher message: Update server connection fails
- Run the patcher as administrator and check again
- Add launcher.exe / patcher.exe / elementclient.exe to your antivirus exception list and check again
- Copy updateserver file attached to the bottom of this post and paste in EPW/patcher/server. Then restart the patcher and check again
- Run fixit.bat in EPW/launcher and then click 'Verify' button on game patcher
- Restart the PC and router, then check again
- if methods above fail, please patch the game manually: http://epicpw.com/menu/patches/
- Alternately redownload / reinstall the client

What is your current game version? It should be written on patcher while updating.

Ive been using mac.  i got lucky , i was able to play. The best way to play EPW is on windows os

Maybe the files that was downloaded during the update can't write on your mac
