Rank 8 gears vs Dragon gears for EA

I would like to seek expert's advise on what set of gears is advisable to get for EAs.

Short answer: R8R due to its versatility.

Long answer: It really depends on your playstyle.  If you plan on doing PK in the future, then the investment for R8 will actually benefit you.  If you don't plan on doing a lot of PvP, then Dragon would be okay at least to start.  I'm seeing a lot of factions crop up asking for r8 gears as a requirement to join, so there's that too (archers are a dime a dozen after all!).

Whatever your choice though, just know that a dragon-geared char can still kick some ass.  It just takes this one thing that EC can't buy--skill. <3

Personally, I recommend having one of each,
as well as a dragon bow.
Depending on the situation, as well as your game play, they are all useful.

Most people usually have both dragon and several R8 weaps,
each with different stats (att lvl, def lvl, puri if magic class etc)

As an EA, I have 4-5 weapons (may get more, who knows).

- Dragon Bow
- Dragon Crossbow
- Defense Bow
- Attack Bow
- 145 int bow

I'm also going to have several sets of r8r armors eventually, so I can switch between them with ease.

Sage ea is better overall in any build. Longer stun, bigger range, more crit and faster chi. Even if thats usually how it works, i prefer holy aps ea over the demon one. If your dartle doesnt proc then youre stuck with same aps as if ur holy. But holy has constant range and damage, and metals hit harder. But each to its own. Also theres also Dph build that requires dex gear and its specifically for holy. Overall, holy >demon, no matter the build used.

You never, ever, under any circumstance PvP with Dragon on an EA. It's absolute garbage. People will say "hur dur its the same stats as Rank 8, even better sometimes!"

No. This is simply not the case, you have less attack and defense levels and you are almost a guarunteed 1 shot from anyone who has a decent statted rank 8 recast set.

Don't buy into the 'demon EA' fad either, unless you have the money to invest in a pure -int set and a x3 -int bow to actually make decent APS, go sage. Overalls sage is better in everything except praying for a Quickshot proc.

I have an attack lvl r8 bow, dragon bow, and I recently added an x-bow to my arsenal (I normally don't like x-bows, but I keep it around for some -chan action).  But as everyone else says it depends.

I also made a demon archer for the lulz.  He's still a lowbie, but I definitely miss Mikau's chi gain already (it's what happens when you play a sage archer for 2 years, lol). 

Make both and see what you like.

Well I generally prefer R8 as you can get better DPH stats, though you can also get awesome APS stats on R8. For me personally it's harder to get APS than DPH. In the end it's a personal choice, so go ahead and test both.
