Gold for EC?

Just wondering if theirs anyway to convert gold to EC

Ex: trading (x) at (x) for EC

Almost done with my rank 8 weapon and im not on very much for events.

I know I can sell them to people but im just wondering if I could actually convert it into EC 
as in buy something from the gold shop that can be converted to EC through the event forges

would ruin the economy since gold are so easy to get nowadays 
5 gold every 6 hours, assuming you vote 4 time a day = 20 gold (cost 25-30 ec each depending) 500+ ec a day
