This...this is the real savage... grammar nazi on forums.
Need feedback and opinions. This is currently a work in progress, and literally written in less than 25 minutes so far. I plan on addressing many extremely sensitive topics, so please read if you are easily offended. There is quite a lot you should hear if that's the case. Please NO more grammatical suggestions, just focus on the topic please. United States of America Are we truly a republic? ___ By Daniel M. Crain Is our nation still a republic? Everyday I sit down at night and review the current chaos the consumes our nation. Between accusations of political scandals, mass shootings, violation of rights, and general stupidity. Our country is now split in a constant political civil war of complete hypocrisy. A nation once considered a symbol of freedom and independence, now slowly becoming the laughing stock of the world. Even our constitution, the founding of our great nation, is tread upon daily. With the amount of injustice occurring in our society, can we truly even call ourselves “free”? Freedom of Speech. Quite a touchy subject is freedom of speech. One’s right to communicate ideas and opinions without fear of government retaliation or censorship. However, we as individuals and members of the community have destroyed such right. Now, we all live in fear of expressing one’s own opinion, due to the constant worry of retaliation by our own peers. For example, Jimmy Kimmel, who recently gave his opinion on YouTube Gaming, received massive backlash from the community. He received unfair death threats, insults, slander, and pure hatred from thousands. These came from many of the same people, who without a doubt, would victimize themselves if the same thing would occur to them. Jimmy’s opinion isn’t going to kill you. It’s not going to stop your favorite gamers from making their content. It’s not going to put YouTube out of business. So why would you take his opinion and explode it to unimaginary proportions? Is it because he’s a high-profile celebrity? Since when did being someone recognized by society automatically revoke your status as a human being and American Citizen, just because he doesn’t see eye to eye with your opinions? This happens everyday, to thousands of people. Anything you say that doesn’t conform to the values of another, is instantly lashed out upon. I can’t even have a private conversation without worry that anything I say will be used against me, crippling my reputation. Not to mention, in a majority of cases, destroying one’s career and financial stability. Such as the case with a book writer who was condemned, ruining his career due to his idea that some feminist should be promoting equality between men and women, rather than condemning just men. Or the students who expressed their own religious opinions on a personal website, that ended up getting them expelled from college. With all the constant censorship by the government that violate many minority rights. If I recall, we live on basis of “Majority Rule, Minority Rights”. We as a society have devolved to such hypocrisy, completely eliminating the “free” in “freedom of speech”. Politics and Corruption Obviously, corruption takes place. This is nothing new, and it will occur everywhere in the world. Although, even if it’s common, we should do everything in our power to prevent such acts. What sickens me the most, is people who will defend these acts, despite conclusive evidence. As well as those who will try and point out others mistakes, rather than taking responsibility for their own actions. What’s worse is that we ELECT these people. Yes, we insist on freedom and justice, but are any of them honestly capable of providing it? No, they aren’t. If they can’t even come to terms and end this stupid political civil war, and yes I call it a “civil war”, they are not capable of managing a population of over half a billion. It’s not even the government that is to blame, it’s us. We let this happen. Our arrogance is the root cause. Now there is so many bars placed that prevent us from creating change in our society. If you ever have heard of the Iron Law of Oligarchy, "The iron law of oligarchy" states that "all forms of organization, regardless of how democratic they may be at the start, will eventually and inevitably develop oligarchic tendencies, thus making true democracy practically and theoretically impossible, especially in large groups and complex organizations”, it’s clearly identifiable in our nation. This is a two party nation, that in order to even have a chance at becoming a high-political figure you must receive support by other political figures. It’s a select two parties that constantly control what dictates and occurs in our nation. Freedom of Religion (Being edited).
