On point though this was before I even had defense gear and was just basically a cube necklace to play with, and being 1 shot randomly at 70% hp or so kinda shows the low defense outside of def gears. Sure going from 20k zerk crits to 10k can seem a little drastic but it's there to prevent random heiros or 1 shots.
Removing a large element of luck and replacing it by well timed gear switches seems more reasonable to me than just letting luck decide the outcome of a fight.
