I wish faith could remove all bad debuffs tbh. The fact that the skill is limited to only certain debuffs is disappointing. 
That would definitely stop the SoG spam

if sog can be faith'd then knockdown shouldn't go through purify and faith can remove it too

I would agree with you, however it is literally impossible.
Knockdown isn't actually a status affect like stuns, it's actually a forced-animation. 
There is no purging it because its literally impossible to purge.
