Well I'm not sure, but until Aga can help you find a fix, try running the game from "epic folder">element>elementclient.exe

delete the game but keep the zip you downloaded.
install the game on a new folder with a diferent name from the previous one.
create an exception of your new installed epicpw folder in your antivirus.
open the launcher.exe and update the game.

let us know if the problem still persists.
