about names

i dont know if some1 asked this already but, why on this server you cant put symbols like "$" or "/" etc.. I know that a old patch changed it to make it impossible to do it anymore, but i know some 1.5.1 server where you can still use these symbols.. wtf o.O

Because we cannot search those names in the database.
Makes it difficult for us to search or do our job if we can't search names for information.

But there isn't really any need for the symbols.
They aren't names nor needed in names imo.
The effort it would take to rewrite our panel (if even possible)
isn't really worth the benefits of allowing symbols,
of which there aren't any, except a little variability.

There is still the issue of whether those names would be PM-able or not.
I had a friend on a previous server with a different name and he was unable to be PMd or invited.

Perhaps there is another more important reason as to why they were removed,
but I know this is one of them and we've encountered it before in searching the names
of old players with symbols.

they arent really needed but, when the name that you want is already taken, many ppls try to make that name using some symbol. So it could be good (allowing only the ones that dont make any problem ofc) for donations too, ID stones i mean xD
