Welcome.
It takes a good amount depending on your 'luck' with endgame. Some people get all engraves and rank 8 pretty easily, as other don't. I don't quite remember how much it costs to make a piece of rank 8, I know it is more than 100 ec, though. But farming here for ec is quite too easy. I don't think you'll have any problems.
But the over all game play is pretty nice, it's easy to level and farm for the gear. The gm hosted events are even better. :3

i would say it takes like 2-4 weeks (depending on how much u play) to get an engame geared char (not talking bout 100% perfect stats)

welcome, and it all depend on your luck for example i have friend who fully geared up with best stats in 2months and he farms less than me, i been trying for like year n months yet  i got nothing  but gears dont matter that much if your gameplay is good enough

Welcome friend. It takes a lot of luck to get good end gear. Just remember to vote twice daily and you will be R8 in no time. For your first character, I would say make an Assassin. Good for farming!
